Sukhothai was not only peaceful—it also had strong warriors. Soldiers used spears, swords, bows, and shields. War elephants were also used, especially by leaders, because elephants were powerful, tall, and frightening in battle. Riding an elephant showed strength and leadership.
Because of their skill and bravery, Sukhothai warriors were later used by the Ayutthaya Kingdom, even after Sukhothai lost its independence.
