Daily life for the Inca was busy and well organized. Most people lived in small villages in the mountains and worked together as farmers, builders, or craftsmen. Everyone had a role, and helping the community was very important.
The Inca did not use a written alphabet. Instead, they used a system called quipu, made of colored strings with knots. These knots helped keep track of numbers, food, and workers. No one today fully understands what all the knots meant, which makes the Inca mysterious.
The Inca also practiced head shaping. When babies were young, their heads were gently shaped using cloth or boards. This showed family or group identity. It was done on purpose and was normal in Inca society.
